The purpose of this certification pathway is to ensure that an individual who is assigned to the role of Hyperbaric Safety Coordinator / Director within a hyperbaric facility meets the highest practice standards of knowledge as proven through coursework and examination.
Hyperbaric Certified-Safety (HC-S) is not an entry-level qualification, rather an
additional certification beyond the applicant's qualifying profession.
Note: There is no intent or implication that the Hyperbaric Certified-Safety (HC-S©) certification is a requisite to hyperbaric safety program initiation at a facility. Hyperbaric Certified-Safety (HC-S©) designation demonstrates that a candidate has achieved the highest professional standards of hyperbaric safety and provides a vehicle for the maintenance of this advanced training certification.
To complete this certification, candidates must:
- Complete the required online course modules.
This is self-paced, but will take around 45 hours. - Successfully complete an approved Introduction to the Role of Hyperbaric Safety Director course (or submit required documentation).
- Successfully complete a skills lab & practicum (8 hours)
- Successfully complete the certification exam with a passing score of 70% or higher.
